Comprehensive eye examination

A comprehensive eye examination can provide baseline information about the health status of the eyes. Any deviations from baseline in consecutive visits may reveal the occurrence or progress of eye diseases (or systemic diseases). Therefore, annually checkup is highly recommended. Basically, the following information can be obtained after the examination.

- Uncorrected visual acuity
- Best corrected visual acuity
- Manifest refraction
- Ocular motility
- Binocular vision status (stereopsis, strabismus, latent tropia, accommodation)
- Color vision
- Intraocular pressure
- Ocular health (cornea disease, cataract, retinal degeneration, glaucoma etc.)

Spectacles and contact lens dispensing

To correct refractive errors, the most effective way is to wear spectacles. They are non-invasive, safe, convenient and yet the most accurate. However, the quality of a pair of glasses is very much affected by the lens and frame use. In order to provide the best lenses and frames to our customers, we mainly use lenses from Hoya (Japan) and Carl Zeiss (Germany). We offer lightweight frames from Lindberg (Denmark) and other titanium frames from places over the world.

Contact lens is a good alternative to glasses for those who dislike wearing glasses or for some reasons, glasses are not suitable for them. However, we should treat contact lens as a supplement to glasses but not a replacement since prolong wearing of contact lens may affect our ocular health. Same as glasses, contact lens should be prescribed by professional and after care is very important. By understanding the customer’s needs, we recommend the most suitable contact lens to he/she. Every customer must put on the lens for lens fitting check if they want contact lens. It is to protect the customer from harm since a badly fit contact lens can damage the cornea and may result in scarring. For current contact lens wearer, we also provide contact lens after care.

Orthokeratology (OK)

By reshaping the cornea with a special design gas permeable contact lens (RGP), orthokeratology is proven to have preventive effect in childhood shortsighted.[1] And it is proven to be safe and effective in reducing shortsightedness in children.[2] We provide close monitoring to our OK patients and review the lens performance from time to time. Newly design lenses are often offered to patient if a better fitting, better comfort or better result can be achieved.

Therapeutic contact lens fitting

In certain eye conditions such as keratoconus or corneal injury, cornea will become so irregular that glasses are not able to fully correct the refractive error and the quality of vision reduces. We provide custom-made lenses (both RGP and hybrid lenses) to correct these corneal irregularities and try to help the patient to regain vision. GP does not always work in keratoconus eye due to poor centration and low comfortability. With the introduction of hybrid lens (a combination of soft lens and RGP), the fitting is much better and it is much more comfortable than RGP.

For keratoconus, we have lenses from SynerEyes KC, SynergEyes ClearKone and RoseK, for post-surgical eyes, we have SynergEyes PS and custom made RGP lenses.
